It is advised that you check out what each unit can do, see the Know Your Enemy section, prior to making your selection and that you cross-reference your desired starting area with the Battle Report so that you don't begin your tour of duty in a particularly aggressive area i.e. behind enemy lines! It's often best to commence your tour of duty in your faction's safe house(s) - unless they've been over-run of course.
Starting with a rookie unit is also advised. This will help you gain experience more quickly. The more advanced Absolute Terror units are primarily for tactical game-play and random destruction.
